Sculptors from across South East Queensland working with clay, wood, metal, stone & found objects will be participating in the 2014 Sculpture on the Edge (SOTE).

ephemeral art

Funding from the Regional Arts Development Fund  enabled the 2014 program to include a week of interactive activities. Maleny artist Corrie Wright will lead a group of ephemeral artists in creating artwork on site at Tamarind from Thursday 25 September to Wednesday 1 October.

spicers sculpture award

This year ACI joins Spicers in launching the inaugural Spicers Sculpture Award. Installation of work is from 9 Sept. to 29 Oct. The Judges Choice of $5000 was awarded to two equal firsts and presented on 24 September. The judges were Jude Turner; Claire Sourgnes and Dawn Oelrich. 

The winning pieces were: 'Two Dancers' from Kaya Sulc and 'Lighf Boat' by Greg Windsor. 

Jenny Fitzgibbon has recorded a song which relates very well to the subject of Greg's "Lighf Boat".

Commended works were :

'Lotus Bowl' by Craig Dornbosch; 'Warhorse' by Wayne Markwort; 'Elements' by Kirsten Cash; 'Pianostring Jellyfish' by Elli Schlunke; 'Cacti' by Shireen Willing.

You can register your vote for the People Choice at Tamarind Reception. This $500 award will be presented 31st October.

The Spicers Group is a supporter of the arts across the Hinterland, hosting Sculpture on the Edge over a 5 year period.

Spicer Tamarind Retreat is a five star resort with restaurant and day spa located on the edge of Maleny, close to the beautiful Gardners Falls. We are very privileged to be able to work in partnership with them.

The rolling hills and rainforest environment provide ‘the perfect backdrop’ for our sculptors work.

Sculpture on the Edge 2014 is proud to be associated with Sunshine Coast Destination’s festival, “HinterLand – a celebration of place, arts and creativity”, taking place in many different venues from 19 September to 26 Octonber 2014.

Now in its second year, HinterLand unites a myriad of artists, makers and performers for a six week festival spectacular. There’s never been a better time to visit the hinterland!
