Sunshine Coast Hinterland Open Studios 2012
The 'open studios' program, presented by Arts Connect Inc., is focused on encouraging public engagement with the arts.
Our vision for the program is to:
- provide local artists with opportunities not normally available to them
- increase public appreciation of creative & art making processes
- encourage the local and wider community to understand, value and collect artworks
- inspire professional artists to visit and work in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and to support and enhance local talent
- have the Sunshine Coast Hinterland recognised – locally, nationally and internationally – as an area that produces high quality artwork.
The 'Sunshine Coast Hinterland Open Studios 2012' initiative will be our third event of this kind – it will open windows into the daily lives of artists and introduce visitors to a diversity of art forms.
Artists across the hinterland will open their working studios to the public. Visitors will see art in progress – from conception through to finished work.
For those interested in the creative process, this will be an experience not to be missed.
This is also a wonderful opportunity for artists to have direct contact with an appreciative audience, and to have work on display and available for purchase.
Participating artists will be chosen for the quality of their work, the ambience of their studio and their willingness to demonstrate their skills and talk about what drives their passion.
These artists will open their studios from 10 am to 4 pm over four weekends:
- 15 & 16 September 2012
- 22 & 23 September 2012
- 29, 30 September & 1 October 2012 (long weekend)
- 6 & 7 October 2012.
Some artists will also be presenting workshops, during the period 17 September to 5 October 2012, which members of the public are encouraged to attend.
