supporting ARTists & CONNECTing communities
Arts Connect Inc. (ACI) supports and promotes the practice and enjoyment of the arts across the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, in Queensland’s south-east.
We coordinate a wide range of activities that provide opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their works.
ACI is a not-for-profit organisation and membership is open to everyone – artist, art lover or patron. We continually search for opportunities to expand our members’ professional development and marketing potential.
Our goal is to establish and promote the hinterland as a unique ‘arts destination’, and to stimulate a greater understanding of the arts within local communities.
We have developed several signature events over the last few years, Open Studios and Sculpture on the Edge. We are always open to new ideas and opportunities.
The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Open Studios program has been a great success over several years, attracting over 2000 visits to a diverse range of studios throughout the Blackall Range during the 2013 program. Studios will be open on the weekends of 11-12th and 18-19th October, 2014.
Sculpture on the Edge is a great opportunity for sculptors to showcase their larger works in the beautiful setting of Spicers Tamarind Retreat, Maleny from September to November. The Spicers Group have sponsored this event over several years and in 2014 we welcome artists to enter the Inaugural Spicers Sculpture Award.
With a prize of $5000 to the Judges Choice, this award has attracted some of the best sculptors on the Sunshine Coast and beyond. Work will be on show from 9th September.
In 2014 our Open Studios program, and our Sculpture on the Edge are important partners of the new HinterLand, a six week long Celebration of Place, Art & Creativity, founded by Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SC Tourism)
General Meetings are held quarterly and combined with a social evening of music and cameraderie at various venues throughout the Range.
Members Exhibitions are held in local galleries, as opportunites present, as group exhibitions allowing members to showcase their work in a supportive environment.
ACI is proud to support the Sunshine Coast Art Prize presented by the Sunshine Coast Council.
Now in its ninth year, the Sunshine Coast Art Prize attracts the best contemporary and emerging artists Australia has to offer. The winner of the two-dimensional (2D) category receives $15,000 and the winning work is added into the Sunshine Coast Art Collection.
